Product Description

Addictive Desert Designs has taken innovation and ingenuity to the next level and is introducing our first ever ADD MaxRax roof rack system. What makes our roof rack system unique to others in the market is that it is universal and light weight, weighing on average 15 lbs depending on the mounting hardware. The rack comes complete with our Universal Light Mount system that allows for cube lights, single row and dual row light bars to mount in multiple locations on all four sides of the roof rack. The bottom of the ADD MaxRax roof rack incorporates slats that are adjustable to your desired width to fit bags, coolers, etc. For Jeep JK there are two mounting options to choose from: Roll cage mount for when the top is off, and hard top mount for when the hard top is on; there is no soft top mount available at this time.

The all-aluminum system built from 5052-0 and receives hammer black six-stage powder coat before it is shipped. Assembly is required, and is easily bolted together. Patent pending.

Which size should you purchase?

The MaxRax was designed to be universal and can fit on most any vehicle, but we have some recommendations for sizes to fit specific applications. Measure your vehicle to find the best fit for you.

  • Mid-Sized Trucks: Our 48" x 48" size is recommended for most mid-sized pickup trucks.
  • Full-Sized Trucks: Our 48" x 52" size is recommended for most full-sized pickup trucks.
  • Jeep JK: The 48" x 55" MaxRax was designed specifically for the Jeep JK.
  • Camper Shells: We recommend our larger 55" x 42" and 55" x 50.25" MaxRax sizes to fit camper shells.

Which Mounting kit should you use?

Depending on your vehicle setup there are multiple options to mount your MaxRax to the top of your vehicle including: Jeep JK roll cage mounts, flat hard top mounts, pivot mounts, vehicle rail mounts, and camper shell mounts.

  • For most vehicles and camper shells you can use our pivot mounts to attach the MaxRax directly to your vehicle cab or camper. The pivot mounts allow for minor rotation to fit the curvature of vehicle cabs and camper shells.
  • If your vehicle has rails, or if your camper shell has rails, we have designed mounts that will install the MaxRax directly to the railing already on your vehicle.
  • If you own a Jeep JK you will want to either use our roll cage mount or flat hard top mount. You have the option of mounting the MaxRax directly to the roll cage or to the top of your Jeep.

Awesome Look, Highly Overpriced

This roof rack looks awesome on top of my jeep and it will serve it's purpose no doubt. Unfortunately you're paying for the look, not the product. I come from the steel industry, specifically cutting sheet metal and bending/powder coating it. This product is just not worth $1159 (after selecting mounting brackets and taxes). The material, labor, and quality is just not there. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box is that some of the powder coat had been rubbed off in a couple spots. This makes me question the quality of the powder coat. The directions were very straight forward and it should have taken 20-30mins to put together (ended up being 2hrs). I soon realized most holes had zero tolerance, meaning I had to tap on the bolts to get them to go through the holes. I would have drilled them out but I wanted to remove as little of the powder coat as possible to prevent rust. Since the holes were so tight, this made it very difficult to get all the holes to line up. I had to get someone to help flex the metal into place to get some of the bolts through. It's sheet metal and bends aren't perfect. Allowing some tolerance in the holes would account for this. Also, the strap down points could use some reinforcement. The metal flexes when you tighten straps down. Maybe not enough to bend it but it flexes. It's a light weight rack, which I love, but it still needs to be sturdy enough to handle strapping down boxes securely without possibly deforming the metal. Overall, there are much higher quality roof racks out there for cheaper, a few of the guys I ride with have them. I believe this would outsell a lot of them if it were priced much cheaper. This will absolutely serve it's purpose for what I need and I love how it looks, everybody has complimented it. I just can't recommend anybody spending this much for what it is.
