Toyota Reveals Full Details of the 2022 Tundra

On Sunday, Toyota finally revealed the features of the upcoming 2022 Tundra, as well as it's 6 available trim levels. Based on the specs and available features, it's lining up to be a competitor of the F-150 Tremor, and Silverado Trailboss & ZR2. Previously, we discussed the few details we were able to glean from a handful of images Toyota revealed. In this article we cover all of the features of the 2022 Toyota Tundra, and detail the differences in options between the six trim levels.

2022 Tundra TRD Pro

The iForce 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque powers the new Tundra. However, the new iForce Max Hybrid option adds a single electric motor to the mix, boosting horespower to 437 and torque to 583 lb-ft. Bringing this power to the pavement is a 10-Speed Electronically Controlled Automatic Transmission with Intelligence (ECT-i). Part-time 4 wheel drive is available across all trim levels. Multi-link Rear Suspension comes standard, and allows for the use of additional advanced suspension systems offered for the Tundra. The optional Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) continuously adjusts damping for comfort and stability. Additionaly, there is a Load-Leveling Height Control Air Suspension system. These height settings can be selected manually, such as lowering it to get in the truck and for loading the bed, or it can be raised for increased off-road capabilities. This can also be set to an automatic mode to adjust to towing & hauling needs.

To cut down on unnecessary weight, Toyota developed a laser-welded high-strength boxed-steel frame. Sitting on top of this is a high-strength steel cab with an aluminum hood and front door panels. An aluminum-reinforced composite bed rounds out the build, contributing to it's strong structure and light weight.

The towing features for the Tundra are pretty impressive. It's maximum towing capacity is 12,000 lbs, with a max payload capacity of 1,940 lbs. The Trailer Garage system stores multiple 'load-outs' for your various needs. The feature let's you save the settings you use when you are towing your boat, or your work trailer, or whatever it might be that is a common haul for you. The Trailer Backup Guide with Straight Path Assist (SPA) aide's you in keeping your trailer in line while driving in reverse.

The Tundra's interior is chock-full of standard and optional features to bring more comfort and safety to your drive. All trims have an available 14-inch touchscreen display, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as well. The larger touchscreen is especially helpful when using the Panoramic view monitor that displays the side/underneath and front/rear views simultaneously. Power seats with heating, ventilation, and memory functionality are also available.

The 2022 Tundra includes the optional blind spot monitor with cross-traffic braking. This system also detects and adjusts to an attached trailer. Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 comes standard and includes the following features:
