Another month and another set of spy photos gets released of the all-new 2017 Ford Raptor! As the months have gone by from photos to videos, you can really see the truck take shape as eager fans anticipate that release date. The spy spots spotted today are the first full look at the F-150 Raptor SuperCrew 4 door model.
The 2017 Raptor was first unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show back in January where we got a glimpse of the first prototype SuperCab model. Fast forward 10 months and we are now seeing glimpses of the SuperCrew model which looks very impressive. The SuperCrew has the same 5.5 foot cargo box as the SuperCab.
Unlike the four-door Raptor prototype that we saw testing off-road, this version wears the production model's new front fascia, with "F-O-R-D" once again spelled out in the center of the Raptor-specific all-black mesh grille, the rugged hood, the unique front bumper that allows for steeper approach angles, and the front skid plate clearly visible underneath. The prototype also clearly shows the Raptor's unique front and rear fenders.
Now the question every current Raptor owner and prospective Raptor owner is continually asking: Will we have the 6.2l option? Sadly no. The Raptor will get a re-tuned version of the 3.5 liter Ecoboost V6. The difference with this 3.5L V6 is that it will produce closer to 450 horsepower compared to the 365-horsepower output found on the standard 3.5L EcoBoost V6. The Raptor will also be one of the first vehicles to receive a new 10-speed automatic transmission being developed by Ford and GM, which will likely make its way onto other Ford trucks as.
